Environmental pollution is a significant problem that affects us all. Human activities are the primary cause of this issue, as we release substantial amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere every second. This pollution results in climate change, for which we all share responsibility. Although carbon dioxide emissions are inevitable, reducing our carbon footprint is within our power.

Environmental pollution is a global issue that cannot be viewed in isolation from other environmental challenges.

While we, as a species, have not always been diligent in protecting our planet, there is hope. Recently, many people have become more aware of environmental pollution issues. These problems arise from population growth, deforestation, improper waste management, and unplanned urbanisation. This growing awareness has sparked concerns among industrialists and others involved in industry growth. They have recognized the need to establish consistent methods and standards for protecting the environment worldwide.

Climate change impact in Bangladesh is one of the countries most severely affected by environmental pollution. It grapples with numerous issues, including climate change, water pollution, air pollution, deforestation, and overpopulation. As a developing country with a large population, its economy is strained in addressing these problems. By 2050, Bangladesh’s population is projected to reach 200 million, significantly impacting the environment. To accommodate this growth, urbanization and industrialization have accelerated, exerting immense pressure on the environment and natural resources. This has led to various types of pollution, posing severe threats to the ecosystem, public health, and economic growth. The situation is urgent and requires immediate attention and action.

One solution to restore our planet’s resilience is to plant more trees. Trees convert carbon dioxide into oxygen; if we plant more tropical trees, they will soak up carbon dioxide from the environment. Another method we can use is eco-labelling. Eco-labelling is a voluntary method that is practised worldwide. It is a preference for living with environmentally friendly products and services. The primary objectives of eco-labelling are to communicate reliable information to consumers about the products and services, encourage innovation in the environment and efficiency sector, and, most importantly, protect the environment.

It is critical to take action now, or the consequences of environmental pollution will be severe.
